‘A Morning Scroll’, is a live audio-visual performance that deals with the experience of learning to navigate a new city, in this case New York, and the resulting confusion and disorientation that arises from using digital mapping tools.
Live Audio-visual performance or ‘VJ’ing’ has been a passion of mine for quite some time. My dissertation project was concerned with visual music and the associated theory. I have since performed live for the Leeds techno night ‘Leftovers’, rehashing their existing brand identity into a motion performance to accompany the musicians. I have also mixed live for Amsterdam’s Red Light Radio. My performance approach consists of using individual video loops that can be synced in real time with the beat of the music. I can then mix layered clips dynamically in response to musical changes.
