‘A Morning Scroll’, is a live audio-visual performance that deals with the experience of learning to navigate a new city, in this case New York, and the resulting confusion and disorientation that arises from using digital mapping tools.
Live Audio-visual performance or ‘VJ’ing’ has been a passion of mine for quite some time. My dissertation project was concerned with visual music and the associated theory. I have since performed live for the Leeds techno night ‘Leftovers’, rehashing their existing brand identity into a motion performance to accompany the musicians. My performance approach consists of using individual video loops that can be synced in real time with the beat of the music. I can then mix layered clips dynamically in response to musical changes.
