Lentic is a product and brand I conceived in response to Elmwood’s ‘One For The Album’ brief; The challenge being to get people to re-engage with the printed photo. After presenting my idea it went on to be the winning entry.
Apple recently released Live Photos. A feature that means for every photo taken, 3 seconds of video is automatically recorded. Clicking your images brings them to life. By blending both photo and video into a new format, special moments are captured with an extra dimension. Phhhoto, Instagram’s Boomerang and VSCO Cam’s DSCO create similar ‘motion pictures’.
Realising there is an unequivocal, pressing demand for this new medium I set about to find a way to translate ‘motion pictures’ into tangible prints. The solution lay in lenticular images – a printing technique that produces the illusion of 10 frames of animation in one image. Whilst lenticular printing has been around for years this particular application and brand approach is unique.
My proposal included the ‘Lentic’ brand – a services that transforms your ‘motion pictures’ into tangible products.
